She started with Virginia Health Services 30 years ago as a CNA while attending nursing school. She completed her RN training in 1997 and continued her career with VHS as an RN on the skilled unit in various roles, including Assistant Director of the Managed Care department. Michelle was promoted to Director of Nursing in 2006 at The Newport.

Physical rehabilitation has gone as well as I could have hoped for. Shift Med ads to CMS and local Department of Health guidance on Covid-19 vaccinations. She has been through the rehab and is now permanently in the nursing facility. I have to give the upmost respect and gratitude to all of the nurses and rehab on the Warwick unit. When I come to the facility they are always very willing to help and to have my mom looking her best. Thank you to the nurses and especially Mike “the TV guy” who’s always making sure the ladies have what they need. They might not be there at your beck and call because they are always short-staffed, but they are always there to attend to the needs, so kudos to the nurses at James River. Elite Eldercare has very nice,well-kept houses. Each person has their room that opens up to the little porch to the side. It is almost like a private home with several residents living there and a nurse’s assistant.
The staff is very friendly, particularly Shawn, Tamaro, Tanieka, Amber and others. However, I am concerned about the loosening of the Covid restrictions . I have a relative currently in James River and unfortunately I’m about 4 hours away. However, the staff makes me feel comfortable about the services that are being provided.

I ask the head nurse that they need to clean that daily and they didn’t. The doctor took her off one of the heart med and when I called the nurse to see what it was, they told me that they didn’t. When I took her to her heart doctor at riverside they ask me why she was taken off this med.
Senior Cool Care provides cooling units during the summer. James River Convalescent & Rehabilitation Center in my experience is a top-notch facility with awesome quality of care that you won’t find anywhere else. The staff is so dedicated that they go far and beyond for our residents from our CNAs, nurses, dietary staff, housekeeping & laundry up to the management and in between. The staff not only encourage the residents to be their best but one another as well. I know this because I have seen it every day since I started working there 3 years ago. You can’t find any better facility to care for your loved one then James River Convalescent & Rehabilitation Center.
